Hi! I'm Josh
I'm 14 years old
What was your favourite part of filming Embrace Kids?
The passion of the cast and crew for the project and the friendly, warm environment that we were provided with.
What do you like most about yourself right now?
I like that I understand what I like to do and where I Want My Life to Go. It’s nice to feel centred and have direction.
What makes you unique?
I suppose it would be the way I think. I’m a rather tangential person and I like to think of myself as creative, so my brain is an odd but interesting place.
What is one piece of advice you would give to adults?
I feel like one of the most significant mistakes that can be made when interacting with a child is treating them and their feelings as smaller or less palpable because they are children. Don’t patronise, don’t minimise and I promise that it will mean a lot.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I couldn’t choose one, it’s not something I’m all that interested in.
What is one thing you would change about the world?
I feel like there is too much to change for me to be happy to just settle for ‘one thing.’ However, if there was more diversity amongst world leaders I think it would enable more positive change to occur.
If a friend asks you to keep a secret that you don't feel comfortable keeping, what would you do?
It really depends on the secret. If it was something that could hurt someone or would be harmful to them or others then I would share it for the protection of those individuals but otherwise I would do my best to keep it.
You mention in the film you don’t love sports. What activities do you enjoy?
I like theatre, plays and musical theatre. I like music. I play classical guitar by myself as well as with others in an ensemble. I enjoy singing and I sing in a jazz vocal ensemble and in a larger choir. I also enjoy reading, especially fantasy novels and I like to write, particularly fictional pieces.
Why is it important to be your authentic self?
It is important to have a good sense of self, to get to know yourself really well from the inside out. That makes it easier to present yourself as openly as possible.
What do you look forward to when you wake up in the morning?
Each day brings an opportunity to think about and contemplate new things and I find that stimulating.
